About Dog Trainer Ed Marshall

Ed Marshall is the training director of Excelon Practical Protection Dog Training Program here at dogtrainercrystal.com.  He offers in-person training through Combo Training plans.  Practical protection is for naturally protective dogs that can do obedience, fitness and socialization.  Trained dogs are loving, obedient and protective members of our clients’ families with Ed’s guidance.

As an experienced trainer Ed Joins Crystal with a strong foundation training that includes training dogs and handlers in tracking, obedience and protection for Schutzhund which is now called Schutzhund, now known as IGP (Internationale Gebrauchshundprüfung) or IPO (International Prüfung Ordnung).  Ed got started in Schutzhund with his own male Rottweiler dog in 1989.   He aimed to train his personal dog and while training for this sport he became attracted to the role of the helper.  He maintained his physical fitness and helper training status with his fellow club members and helped train dogs in the protection phase to go on to trail with their handlers.    In 2008 he transitioned from Schutzhund training helper to French Ring Sport as decoy.  Gaining protection dog suit work and skills for sporting dogs and handlers. He transitioned from dog sports to self defense training for private clients in 2018 when he joined Crystal in training for self defense protection and everyday life obedience.

At present day, Ed trains dogs in self-defense for private clients.  He guides dog handlers of naturally protective dogs through Practical Protection obedience and protection target training exercises.  Ed also has a decoy training program for those people interested in learning to decoy for dogs in protection.  For those of you who are not familiar with protection training, the decoy is the person who takes bites from the dogs!  As well as helping dog trainers and handlers build control work with working protection trained dogs.

Decoy Training For Protection Sessions

Interested in learning to decoy dogs, please contact us through the form at bottom of this page. No training experience is required to become a decoy.  You do not need to have a dog either.  You must be physically fit and interested in taking bites from dogs in protective training gear as well a be part of the team it takes to train controlled protection training exercises listed in our program.

The cost is $3,300 for 24 sessions.   Half down is due to reserve your spot for training.  Then a training schedule is built for you with us.  You must be friendly and interested in working with dog handlers.  The bite sleeve and suit you will need is an additional cost.  We have some gear to help you start the first 6 sessions, but you will need to get your own gear that we suggest to you overtime.
