DTC DIY Series: How to natural groom your dog part C

Shampoo your dog with Dr Bonners Pure Castile Magic Lavendar Soap, rinse with cool water and then the final step rinses your dog with ACV.  Here is how:

Using an Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinse can be an excellent way to enhance your dog’s grooming routine, leaving their coat shiny and their skin healthy. Thanks to its natural acidity, ACV helps remove soap residue that could otherwise lead to skin irritation. Moreover, it seals the hair cuticles, balances the skin’s oil levels, and even acts as a pest deterrent—especially when combined with essential oils like Geranium.

To apply the ACV rinse, begin by giving your dog a thorough shampoo and rinse. Then, as the final step, use an ACV mixture tailored for safe and effective use. Here's a simple recipe: in a one-gallon bucket, mix ¼ cup of ACV with 4–8 drops of Geranium essential oil for pest control. For an added touch, you may include lavender oil to mask the vinegar scent, which will eventually evaporate.

Pour the mixture directly over your dog’s coat, ensuring the solution reaches the skin. Don’t forget to dip your dog’s paws into the mixture and gently rub between their toes. Massage the rinse all over your dog’s body, working it down to the skin. There’s no need to rinse it off—simply leave it on and dry your dog as usual. The result? A naturally healthy, clean, and shiny coat for your furry friend!

Tip: once a week, ACV wash your dog to maintain pest free, healthy skin and coat.  Skip the soap and massage in your ACV mixture using the recipe above.  Dry your dog, then brush your dog daily.
